N is for...New York City

Today is Alphabee-Thursday.
That means my blog is currently being brought to you by the letter N.
is for

I've never been to New York City, but it's been my dream, ever since I was a little girl, to be there, on Thanksgiving Day, at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

I've always thought that THAT would be the best holiday ever!
I want to be at the parade

and see the REAL Santa Claus.

I want to Christmas shop in the city, and see all the decorated store windows.

I want to see the tree lighting at Rockefeller Center...

...and MAYBE try ice skating on the rink there.

I want to ride through Central Park in a horse-drawn carriage.

I wouldn't mind seeing a show or two.

AND I'd love to visit with some long time diary (blog) friends that live in the area.

(oh..and some of those other touristy things, too....

...to name a few)

My mom and friends keep telling me..."someday".

We'll see!

A girl can dream, can't she?

Take me with you! I'd love to see NYC in the spring time and again at Christmas - those department store windows!
For someone whose never been, you covered some of my favorite parts! You'd love it there....especially during the holidays!

I'm a small town girl at heart, but there is nothing, and I mean nothing, like New York City. It's an amazing place. If you get the chance to go, at ANY time of the year, grab it! But Christmas is the best, if you can stand the cold :) Kathy

I would love to go to New York too. My son has a friend that lives there. I can't believe he went and I've never been.

I actually grew up in a suburb of NYC and I've always wanted to see the ball drop down on New Year's Eve. All my friends got to go, but I wasn't allowed. My parents took us to Chicago, California, Florida, etc., but rarely into NYC. I didn't visit the Statue of Liberty until I was in my fifties. So, I'll go with you!

Pick me, pick me! I will go with you! I was only there once, in the middle of the night for like 2 hours. Drove around and saw a little of the night life - at 19 it was an eyeopener.

Robin,

Do you know Pat at Mille Fleur? She writes about NY almost everyday...she lives in Brooklyn. I think you would enjoy her blog.

I hope that when you make your dream trip (and I have no doubt you will!) the day isn't nimbose.

I'm using one obscure word in each link today just to be teacher-like! ha!

Thanks for a really nifty "N" stop on my little journey through Alphabe-Thursday's Letter "N"!

A+

I live just outside the city. I love it, especially at Christmas time.

The Macy's parade is better on tv. Or go the night before to see the floats being filled. Otherwise it is hours and hours and hours of standing in the freezing cold and often rain, to see not very well. That's just my little helpful travel tip, not that you asked : )

here's what i say...
get on a plane and go! Christmas is the best...i agree with mbkatc230...the store windows are amazing. the tree is great too...but i don't recommend going to the lighting ceremony..kinda crazy. and my favorite touristy thing is the empire state building...but you have to buy the audio tour...it is SO worth it.
can you tell i am a big fan of NYC?
