C is for Crayon

Today is Alphabe-Thursday. That means my blog is brought to you by the letter C...so let's get right down to it.

is for

ahhh...the simplicity of crayons!
An essential tool in my profession, and yet such a vital part of our lives.

Crayons have the ability to color our world. They add life to simple drawings, brighten up the darkest of pictures, and create rainbows on rainy days.

After completing a writing assignment my students will often ask...."Do we have to draw a picture?"
"Of course you do!! And use your crayons!" I will reply.

And then the real feelings of their topic show through.

Without color, how dull our lives would be.
No yellow sunshiny days.
No pink cotton candy.
No blue skies and green grass.

Lollipops would be tasteless and lemonade would be just water.

The fashion industry would go bust and movies would not be worth seeing.

Crayons add life. They add spirit. And they make me smile.
Even tho a wee little piece of one was the bane of my world on Monday, when it hid in my pocket and then decided to spread itself all over a load of my clothes...I could not hate it. It was not the crayon's fault.

So color my world with all those hues of happiness ....

and you don't even have to stay in the lines!

I have a big old shoe box full of crayons, (left overs from all those years of having kids in school) and we still use them for all sorts of projects around here.

I used to love coloring. At the nursing home where my mom is they give a daily newsletter to the residents. There's an outlined picture on the back. I bought crayons for mom so she could color. She loves it too.

Oh I love this eloquent and poetic post...Without color, how dull our lives would be.
No yellow sunshiny days.
No pink cotton candy.
No blue skies and green grass.

Lollipops would be tasteless and lemonade would be just water.

That was so beautifully spoken!

You have the honor today of decorating the new message board! Oh and I just know it will be beautiful and colorful and happy!

A+

I love crayons. I especially love the new Crayola crayon sharpener that makes the crayons look brand new! I think I like to color more than my kids.

I love crayons too! I'm so happy that our niece moved near us, now I have a valid excuse to play with them again. Have you seen that new toy that melts up the little ones and makes new ones? I tried to get it for her for Christmas but couldn't find one. My husband said I should just go out and buy it for myself lol. Kathy

I have been reading the names of the crayons in the 96 box to my pre-k students to help them with adjectives....purple mountains majesty, flamingo pink, razzle dazzle red, just like Forrest Gump said," LIfe is like a box of chocolates" how about "Life is like a box of crayons". I like that just as much!

This was a cute post. I agree with you.

I grew up in the 60's and our family didin't get a color TV until the early 70's.

At the time black & white was it so I didn't know that TV & photos would ever be anything other than that. I've seen color become more vivid over the years and it's pretty cool when you think about it.

I've always had crayons, but boy are there a lot more colors these days. I love color.

Take care,
Nannette

I love crayons-- especially a brand new box, with sharp, beautiful tips. I hate crayons in the dryer....
