Life In a Small Town

I've decided it really sucks to get old..... not as in I'm getting old, but as in, my kids are growing up.... and things are not the same. They don't get excited over the things they use use to. Holidays aren't as much fun. It either takes more to please them (Christmas/birthdays) or they are "too big" for the frivolity of it all (Easter Bunnies, Trick or Treating). Oh...they still enjoy getting an Easter basket...which of course I still fill for them, but the overall "holiday spirit" is gone. Maybe it's just b/c this Easter holiday has not been normal. See...our "usual" Easter starts with a big family brunch on Saturday, followed by an Easter egg hunt for the kids. Then all my children come home with me and we dye eggs and the Easter Bunny comes and go to church and I sing in the cantata...then we either have lunch together out or at home where my meager culinary skills are still appreciated by hungry kids who don't care what we ha...

The ONE advantage to my precious puppy waking me up at normal time on days off and weekends is having the quiet of the house all to myself. I love to spend that hour or two curled up on the loveseat in the gameroom watching some frivolous tv I've recorded or have on dvd ...spending those moments selfishly. (currently it's Ally McBeal. I'm about to finish season 2 of 5) ok..so I do wind up throwing in laundry usually... but that's only cuz I'm a chronic multi-tasker who feels guilty for completely shirking off responsibilities....but still. The quiet..where I can catch up with friends on FB...read a few blogs sometimes...(something I'm working on)....get lost in a story and live vicariously through others on my tv screen.... and just be. Until the pitterpatter of size 7 feet come padding through the door asking, "What's for breakfast?" that is! I realized last night that it's been about a month since the last time I posted anything. I was in the routine of sitting down every Sunday morning and sharing my week here, but I guess I got busy on ummm....let's see...March 20th, and didn't make it...and then when I remember thinking, "I'll just do 2 weeks in one"...but that didn't happen. Then I see that only 1 person even commented on that entry...so I must not have been missed and that made it hard to come back and post... But here I am...gonna try and catch up on my life, if for noone else but myself. Not even gonna attempt to do a day-by-day blow of the past 4 weeks, just an overview, to look back and see where I've been.
