S is for Stoic

Image
Today is Alphabee-Thursday. That means my blog is currently being brought to you by the letter S. and...S is for Stoic. Yes, I know I've already done an S entry today, but after I posted it, and left home, I got to thinking about how it didn't really say what I wanted it to say. I rambled on about not getting to see a movie I really want to see, and I know that noone will really understand how much that means to me...what it REALLY means, to me, and that's ok I guess, but I don't think I fully represented in that entry what I meant to. When I was trying to think about an S entry I wanted it to be meaningful, symbolic, insightful....and I think I failed miserably. I thought about S is for School, since we are finishing up this week. I thought about it being S is for Singlehood, since I'm getting married tomorrow. I even thought about it being S is for Scared...for all the changes my life is facing. But none of them sounded right either. Nothing was fully encompassin...

S is for S&tC and it's symbolism

Image
Today is Alphabee-Thursday. That means my blog is currently being brought to you by the letter S. and... is for The long awaited opening of the new Sex and the City movie is today. And I can't go. This may seem trivial to some of you, but to me, it's important. This series, which use to be on television, was such a phenomenon. I remember when it first came out, I thought, "Oh how scandelous!" and would not watch it. It was on HBO, and yes, it had it's risque moments that I am not fond of, but deep down, it really is a great story of 4 friends. Ladies who are so different from each other in so many ways are able to share their lives with each other so deeply. These 4 women go through everything together. They are there for each other. They have different relationships with men, but in the end, they are always always there for each other, no matter what. I've envied that throughout the whole series. I've wanted that in my own life. Friends...who are there...

R is for Ready or Not

Image
Today is Alphabee-Thursday. That means my blog is currently being brought to you by the letter R. and... is for (no....not "Robin", which would've been the obvious choice..but rather....) Ready or not.....here I come! I remember yelling that out many-a-time as a kid. Playing games with my siblings or neighbor friends. I also remember hearing it many times in my life. Graduation from first high school..then college. Taking those big steps into adulthood. Getting married the first time....having babies. All of those big steps came, whether I was ready for them or not. sure...some of them I CHOSE to do....but that doesn't mean I was really ready for them. I am a creature of habit. I like comfortable. I do not like change. I'm not a mixer-upper. I'm of the mindset, "if it aint broke, don't fix it." But yanno..some of the best things in my life happened even tho I wasn't ready for them. My children are the best example of this. As much as I wa...

Wedding Rings...check!

Image
With 11 days left til marriage day (I still have a hard time saying "wedding day" since we aren't actually having a wedding), it was time to pick out rings. We drove to the mall in the city (30 miles away) to see what Zales had to offer. I'm a Zales girl....my daddy managed Zales stores from before I was born until I was 15 or so and he'd had enough of "business suits". I grew up in a Zales store, getting to clean the glass cases, learning to engrave my name on charms and bracelets that had defects in them...playing with the sizing rings. I'm just loyal to Zales...as I am to Coca-Cola products, since my grandfather worked for them for 40+years..but that's a whole nother story. Anyway...back to the rings... I'd looked online at what Zales had to offer, before going to the store, and of course, none of the ones I liked (aka "in my price range") were there onhand. But it was not a wasted trip. I did learn what width I preferred, what s...

A Picture a day for 365 days...a year's worth of fun! A busy, jammed pack week! Let me share it with you! 365/128 Sunday-May 9 Mother's Day! My children were all here with me. Normally they work together to prepare me a large, eclectic, breakfast in bed. Not so this year. This year they kinda flaked out on me.. this is what I was presented with... A bowl of Lucky Charms, and a Diet Coke!! Not that I'm complaining...I love them both. Just seems that the boys flaked out on me. However...Trey, my 16 yr old, was very proud that he was able to spend his own hard-earned money on a gift for me this year. And the M&Ms, via their dad, got this book for me that I'd asked for. And it's autographed!! (I know a lot of people have issues with her, but I like her. I don't agree with everything she's said and done, but I still like her. When I was thumbing through this book at Books-a-Million, I came across the chapter that was "Lett...

Q is for Queen------sized

Image
Today is Alphabee-Thursday. That means my blog is currently being brought to you by the letter Q. and... is for I have a facebook status that says, "I am the Queen, my pantyhose says so." and I am. queensize that is. I have never been a teeny petite girl, altho for years I desperately wanted to be. oh, in my mind I am. That's my problem. My self-image portrays me as a size 5 at most. Slim, trim, flat firm belly, perfectly rounded bum... but then a mirror, or worse yet-a photgraph betrays me and shows me for what I am. But I've learned that that's just me. I'm loud, large, and lively. I'm a lot of fun..ask anyone. I do tend to think it's "all about me"...jokingly of course. I do tease about wearing a tiara and being queen of the world. I even sleep in a queensize bed...at least for a couple more weeks! I'll never be a pixie princess...and I've come to accept that. And thankfully, I don't have to be. Because being all I can be ...

It's an award!

Image
My new blogging buddy VKT at Veteran Kindergarten Teacher gave me an award. Thanks my friend!! I feel so honored! The Rules: 1. Thank the person who gave you this award. 2. Share 7 things about yourself. 3. Pass the award along to 15 bloggers who you have recently discovered and who you think are fantastic! 4. Contact the bloggers you've picked and let them know about the award. #1. Again..Thank you! I do not seem to be able to blog everyday like a lot of my friends do, so receiving an award is such an honor to me!! It makes me feel like someone actually noticed and read me! :) #2 7 things about myself ...hmmmm 1. I've been in the field of education for 20 years now. Upon graduation from college in 1989, I taught Kindergarten for 3 years. The next year was spent in CA, where my husband and I moved, on a whim, to just "get away" and get to know some of his family before we "had kids to tie us down". I taught in a preschool there. Then I became pregnant so...

Project 365...the merry month of May

A Picture a day for 365 days...a year's worth of fun! Another week just whizzed by...they are getting faster and faster on me! 365/121 Sunday-May 2 Cleaning out the house...hauling things over to Greg's house...this is the trash pile for the day. (and when I woke up the next morning, the broken tv and the broken vacuum had been taken during the night!! lol) 365/122 Monday-May 3 Went to the vet today to set a grooming appt for Maggie, and the techs were playing with these: Someone had dropped them off and left them. 365/123 Tuesday-May 4 Trey's Awards Night at school. He received his Year II Knight's Scholar Award. It's an award they earn each year for keeping a 3.5 gpa or higher. The students in the program sign a contract to keep their grades up, and then are rewarded at the end of the year if they do. It takes the place of Honor Society and is open to grades 9-12, not just 11-12. As a sophomore, this was his 2nd year to get it...
