~update on the craziness of my life

I think my last post was about all the stress of my family's health issues right now... Of corurse there is my dad's failing health, and now this thing with my mom...could be rheumatoid arthritis, could be cancer, but whatever it is her tiny little body is ib so much pain that she's barely able to do much more than prepare meals and move around a little, because being still brings on the tremors and seizures from the other nuerological issues she's been dealing with. And then there's my grandmother, who fell in the ditch, has been taking too many or too few pain pills because she now cant keep them straight and has now developed shingles. Then, on top of all that...I found out Friday night that my 16 year old nephew has been sent to a place in Little Rock because he told his friends his life sucked so bad he was going to go home and kill himself, so they told the school counselor who luckily got him some help. He will be there another week I think, and says it all s...

whinging

as my Aussie friends would say.. (or WHINING as it may be) YOU'VE BEEN WARNED: This is me right now: I am sitting at my desk at school, eating a bowl of potato soup, having just broken down in my asst. principal's office. Tears and everything. I hate it when I get like that...when it just overtakes me and I can't control it. I feel like I can't breathe... it's something new everyday..more to do..more paperwork to fill out, more assessments to give, more progress monitoring, more special ed documentation, more observations, more turn in this form, and finish your professional development hours because we screwed you out of some, and get those monthly writing prompts done and hung in the hall, and get your assignment done for the book study tomorrow, be at this meeting during your prep time and at this other meeting after school, and oh yeh..be the best teacher you can be and don't let one minute go by that you aren't instructing the children. The same childre...

While I've got a few minutes...

While I've got a few minutes.... I came across this in my friend Cathy's blog. She always has awesome survey thingies! 1. A new Miss America was crowned on Saturday night-did you watch? If you were a contestant what would your talent be? ~umm...do they have a category for how to burn yourself the most while cooking?? I'm really good at that! 2. Do you have houseplants? Real or fake? ~I am a botonist's nightmare. Everything I touch dies. I prefer fake ones, and have a few. But even those are looking a little peekid (ok..that is not spelled right, but I'm too lazy/computer is fussy this morning and don't want to go check the spelling and the spell check on here was not helpful) 3. When you were in school did you speak up or were you more of the hide your face, avoid eye contact, and pray the teacher didn't call on you type of student? ~as a younger student, I had all the answers...but I soon learned that THAT earns you no friends. In high school I always knew...

Kids...Don't Go Breakin' My Heart

We toured colleges yesterday, my baby boy and I. Well..not my baby boy. My grown up, mature, always has his head on straight and does the right thing boy. My weren't you just 3 yesterday but now you say you're 18 and stand taller than me boy. Where does the time go? We toured the college that has offered him money. The one that is the rival to my alma mater. My sister graduated from there. My brother got his teaching certification from there. My SIL graduated from there. Lots of my friends graduated from there. I graduated from across the street. The school that is only offering $9000 in financial aid. Which doesn't put a dent in their $28,000/year cost. But he doesn't want to go there anyway....so it doesn't matter. He liked the school we looked at. The rival school. But it's not his first choice. We'll be going to see one of his top two choices on Friday. It's farther away. The other of his top two is even farther than that. The rival school is halfwa...

Ramblings and whatnot

Don't really know what to call this entry. After debating back and forth with myself, because hey..that's what I do...I decided I wasn't gonna use the same format of a picture a day like I did last year. 1. because I haven't been taking a picture a day 2. y'all prolly don't care to see everything we eat/cook 3. my life is just not that exciting 4. I'm lazy But I do like to post pictures, as reminders, because I'm fairly certain someday I'll have Alzheimers and not be able to remember anything. And I like pictures. So...what did I accomplish do this week? Well... Last Friday there was a little something on tv that caught my attention. Of course we prepped all day for it at school. There was a Razorback Pep Rally and we tied our learning into it all. Quite a fun day. There's even a website that has Razorback football coloring sheets that we used for several activities! Saturday I tried to cook again...scalded my hand. Most nights we sit around and...

Keeping my word

Well...I said I was gonna get back into the habit of writing more often, but so far I haven't done a very good job. My days are either extremely busy, or extremely lazy (as in, all I want to do is lie on the couch and watch my dvr'd shows.) Not much going on tho really. --school stuff occupies most of my time. Either planning lessons, searching for things to go with my lessons, making those things, or cutting out those things. Pinterest has increased my work load because there is just so much cute stuff on there. --family life isnt busy, but I've found that my hubby is happiest when I do not spend my few awake hours on the computer each evening. So, instead I wind up doing all my school work on the sofa, sitting next to him, while we watch tv. --the kids: Trey and I have begun the college touring portion of his senior year. We've been to one, will tour 2more next week, and then he's suppose to do one with his school counselor and a few of his classmates. He's a...
