Image
A Picture a day for 365 days...a year's worth of fun! The holiday season has begun. 2 days of school and then 5 days off. 324/365 Sunday, November 21 TAKE A NAP DAY Preparing for the busy week ahead. 325/365 Monday, November 22 FALL PICTURE DAY The stage in our "cafetorium" was still decorated with props from the PTO program last week, so I took advantage of it and got shots of my kiddos to add to the photo albums I'm making for them. 326/365 Tuesday, November 23 PAST PRESENT FUTURE DAY We've been learning about how things change over time. I show my students a timeline of pictures of me from birth to the present and we discuss how I grew and changed. Then they bring in a baby picture and I give them a current pic I've taken and they imagine what they will be in the future. They have so much fun with this activity. 327/365 Wednesday, November 24 WHITE WEDNESDAY I got a lot taken care of so I didn't have to go out ...

Project 365: Time Flies When You're Having Fun

A Picture a day for 365 days...a year's worth of fun! Life is good. Busy....but good. Made it through another week. Actually, I should say I survived another week. It zoomed by so quickly I'm surprised I didn't fall off! But you know me...if I ain't busy, I ain't happy! lol 310/365 Sunday, November 7 VETERAN'S DAY SERVICE One of our prominant older ladies at church put together a Veteran's Day Service (2 actually) at our church. Sunday morning we honored the Vets that were members of our church, then Sunday night we held a community service to honor vets from our whole area. The choir sang, and she asked me...ME...to perform the one solo she wanted sung. I was so honored! It was an old hymn, "Let There Be Peace On Earth", and I already knew it, so that helped calm my nerves a bit. In fact, it was the very first song I ever played on the piano at church when I was growing up....I think I was in the 5th or 6th grade! Not particularl...

Facing the Truth

Image
We try to fight it...we don't want to admit that it could possibly be true, but I guess it's time to accept the inevitable. I'm getting old. I had this epiphany a few moments ago as I looked at all the products sitting on my vanity. There...amid the hairbrushes and curling irons were things like *AGE REWIND foundation make-up *OIL of OLAY moisturizer *REGINERIST eye cream (to get rid of wrinkles and bags around the eyes) *SENSITIVITY toothpaste and *a box of hair color (to "paint" over the gray in my hair, as one precious little hispanic student of mine called it the other day) *sigh* yep... it's happened. I'm high maintenance.

Project 365: November already???

A Picture a day for 365 days...a year's worth of fun! I canNOT believe it is November already!! Didn't 2010 just start? Weren't we all just debating on what to even call this year? twenty-ten? two thousand-ten? 2K10.... and now in just a mere 54 days the year will be over! Good gravy...if time flies when you're having fun, I must be having a laugh-riot! Anyways...on to what's been keeping me so busy this week! 303/365 Sunday, October 31 HALLOWEEN, but not really. Our town celebrated last night, with trick-or-treating and Trunk-or-treats at the local churches. WE, however, opted to leave town to avoid the madness. (our neighborhood sees well over 300 kids if you stay at home....and by "kids", I mean anyone from birth age up to 18 or higher. It's really aggravating how many teens and young adults expect you to give them candy. There is also usually vandalism in our neighborhood if you have decorations out. Some of the less than savor...

Project 365: MIA...catching up

Image
A Picture a day for 365 days...a year's worth of fun! Well good grief! I've been gone over a week....where does the time go? I owe 2 weeks worth of pictures now! Gonna try and catch up. 289/365 Sunday, October 17 TAKE BACK THE MALL Saw this sign at the mall. Kudos to them! 290/365 Monday, October 18 THE DAY THE DOGGIE DIED The PinkyDog that is......Maggie's favorite toy. It has been "sick" for a long time. Maggie delights in chewing the stuffing out of all her toys and PinkyDog was no exception. I'd hope that he'd last longer, being her fave toy and all...but no such luck. He was finally totally gutted today. 291/365 Tuesday, October 19 SMOKEY BEAR DAY Our school was given 5 trees to plant on our campus to provide shade (in the future) and Smokey Bear came to visit, too. 292/365 Wednesday, October 20 COLOR ME day Our 1st graders first "color me" program. A take on "The Hungry Caterpillar", te...
