It's an award!
My new blogging buddy VKT at Veteran Kindergarten Teacher gave me an award. Thanks my friend!! I feel so honored!

The Rules:
1. Thank the person who gave you this award.
2. Share 7 things about yourself.
3. Pass the award along to 15 bloggers who you have recently discovered and who you think are fantastic!
4. Contact the bloggers you've picked and let them know about the award.
#1. Again..Thank you! I do not seem to be able to blog everyday like a lot of my friends do, so receiving an award is such an honor to me!! It makes me feel like someone actually noticed and read me! :)
#2 7 things about myself...hmmmm
1. I've been in the field of education for 20 years now. Upon graduation from college in 1989, I taught Kindergarten for 3 years. The next year was spent in CA, where my husband and I moved, on a whim, to just "get away" and get to know some of his family before we "had kids to tie us down". I taught in a preschool there. Then I became pregnant so 11 months after moving to CA, I came back home, but home to my parents house. I subbed, in all my pregnant glory, for a year, taught Kinder for a year in a temporary position, then subbed for another year before procurring a 1st grade position in that town. 7 years there, then 7 years here, post divorce, also in 1st grade...that's a lot of little kids I've known!
2. I love cereal. Lucky Charms, Golden Grahams, Corn Pops, ...I could eat it for every meal. (and probably should to cut back on some of this weight.)
3. For my 16th bday one of my friends toilet papered my whole bedroom. My girlfriends and I spent the day shopping and lunching, with me driving of course, while my mother let this male friend into my room to cover it in fluffy whiteness. We returned home to open the door and walk into a cloud of t.p. He did a good job. It took a while to get it all down!
4. While teaching kindergarten in my first school, one of my co-teachers was a friend from college who started calling me Varment. My maiden name is Vermeer, and at a church camp at our college campus where we both served as administratitve aides, one of the leaders mistakenly called me that during our first day when trying to pronounce my name. For Tina, it stuck. She's called me that ever since.
5. Oil of Olay and sensitivity toothpaste are my best friends now. I can't go without them. At age 43, I need all the help I can get.
6. I am addicted to Diet Coke. Must have one every morning, and like to have one everynight just as I'm going to bed. The caffeine does not keep me up. Never has.
7. I learned to read at the age of 3 and have loved to do so ever since. I just don't have much time to do so during the school year. I do not like romances or westerns or sci-fi. I like horror, suspense, and ...yes..trash! LOL Some of my fave authors are Mary Higgins Clark, John Saul, Dean Koontz, Stephen King (altho not as much as the others), and Jackie Collins (for the trash). I do like to read biographies and humor, too. Like Anita Renfroe and Celia Rivenbark.
There..7 things you might not have known about me. Hope I didn't scare anyone off!

I love your answers and I think I need to try that particular toothpaste myself ... sigh... Although since I've got over 10 years on you it might be too late for the Oil of Olay thing.
Congratulations on your award! I'm hoping to get a chance to check out the others this morning but its a 3-Granddaughter day here and that means chaos will reign!
Instead of Diet Coke, I have a Diet Mt. Dew obsession. However, I am proud of myself for at least making the switch to Diet.
However, I am thankful for VKT giving it to me as well.
