Family Fridays--better late than never

As usual, I'm a day late and (more than) a dollar short...but..you know that thing called "life"?? Well..it sometimes gets in the way of my blogging.
I KNOW...how DARE it!! Right?
Anywho...I had to tend to *IT* (life) yesterday, and ran out of Friday before I ever got a chance to even log on to this site!
So...you get a "better late than never" story today!
Which, come to think of it, is the way my life works a lot of times.
so...what shall I share about my family with you today?
I think that since my middle child is spending the weekend alone with me, I shall make this entry about him.
Meet Matthew.

Currently, he is 11 yrs, 10 months, and 24 days old. (his birthday is the end of May)
He is my "mama's boy".
He is my "not-so-athletic, happy to just get by w/o wanting to try harder, sweet spirited when it comes to me but mean as a snake to his sister" child.
He was not always this big, strapping young man. He was a cute little ring-tailed tooter, too. Oh, the stories I can tell on him..and probably will as time goes on.

He was born when his older brother was 4 1/2 yrs old.
Life for Matthew was wonderful...until....14 months later, baby sister joined the family. Ever since, I think it has been a competition for attention.

I remember when Molly was a teeny thing, I'd get up in the night to nurse her, then just as she'd get back to sleep, Matthew, less than a year and a half old, would wake up. 3 am or so. He'd want me. We'd go sit on the couch, him with his bottle and blankie, in my lap or up against me, and snuggle and watch Mickey Mouse cartoons til we both fell asleep again. I'd awaken to nurse Molly again before going to school (I teach) and he's still be crashed up against me. This went on for months.
I told the pediatrician about this. His reply was, "Well mama, it's the only time of day that he gets you all to himself."
Yes, I suppose it was. And now, I cherish those memories!
It's also part of the reason I make sure to have "mom and me" weekends with EACH of 3 children from time to time.
We all need a little one-one-one with mom sometimes!
