True Story Tuesday- So if this is what being a Housewife is like....

Yesterday was definitely a Monday, allllllll over!

So I'm doing my Monday thing...unpacking more boxes, getting the house in order (or at least trying to make sense of the clutter) and doing a pretty good job of it. I felt really proud of all I accomplished yesterday, and the house is starting to look more like a home, and less like a storage facility.

Oldest son arrives, and he and his dad bring in my sofa from the storage shop for him to sleep on and put it in the use to be diningroom/now boys' bedroom. One of these days I'll get twin beds for in there, but for now, he's on that couch and 12 yr old son is sleeping on mattresses on the floor. (or on the couch in the livingroom when he falls asleep watching tv!)

Hubby comes home from work and is impressed by all I've done.
We discuss the day's events..the plumber (his cousin) had been there earlier to check on some things he'd worked on last week, was the A/C cooling the house good enough (b/c the AC guy had been at our house the previous night when the AC had quit working)....and we decided it had not. So...call him back to come check it.
Yard guy had not been over to mow the back yard which we fear is snake infested (they are bad around here right now and we didn't want the boys to mow just in case we had anymore out there. We've already killed several.)

So...hubby and I go out to the "shop"(extra garage/shop we have) and start working on the mower. Battery is dead, needs gas and oil and tires aired up....he gets all that taken care of while I unplug the electric fence and hold the dog (black lab) and open the fence gate to let him into the backyard and he proceeds to mow, while I return inside to cook supper.
I'd prepared deer steak to fry and was making mashed potatoes, green beans, and biscuits to go with it. Yes...call me Mrs. Domesticality!

So...I'm cooking away, and all of a sudden I hear this THWACK! I stop.....look around...and start hearing "tinkle tinkle tinkle".

Darling hubby, oblivious to all things around him and happily mowing the 2 foot high weeds in the backyard, has thrown a rock with the mower, and it has shattered the sliding glass door in the kitchen.

*phone pic..not great quality*

So...now, not only am I cooking dinner, and waiting on the A/C guy to get there, I have to call the glass guy to come as well. (and it's after 7pm, too)
Luckily, as small towns do, people come when you ask them to.
Glass guy has a used door he can install right then....so darling daughter starts sweeping up the millions of teeny tiny pieces of glass, Hubby finishes mowing, A/C guys shows up and tells us the AC is working fine, just trim some of the branches from a bush back from around the unit, Glass guy is fixing the door, and I'm just a cooking up a storm.

By 8pm all was well in our home, dinner was ready, and we finally had a chance to sit down and relax from a busy day.
Oh..and the family said dinner was wonderful.

I wouldn't know. I ate a salad!

Lawn mowers can be dangerous tools of destruction it's true. I mowed the backyard over the weekend and carefully tried to pick up all the little things I didn't want shredded around the yard. They really do eat and throw everything. What a Monday though. Your biscuits look scrumptious though!

Oh my goodness - that sounds like a crazy amount of things to handle all at once!

That picture is truly worth 1000 words... how scary to have that happen!

So glad everyone was okay and it all worked out to a nice family dinner in the end!
