Project 365--a quiet week without the kids
A Picture a day for 365 days...a year's worth of fun!

The kids have been gone all week....Trey and Matt at Church Camp in Tennessee. Molly at her dad's, and Greg's son was at his mom's. It's been so nice and quiet.

FATHER'S DAY
Greg's mom usually takes him out on Father's Day. This year, he decided he wanted to stay home and grill some steaks, so she came over to our house. She's never done this before. Greg and his son, Alex, ALWAYS go to her house on Sunday for dinner. ALWAYS--unless it's an occassion and they go out. This has ALWAYS been her time with them, and a sore spot with me the first couple of years we dated b/c I was never invited. In all 5 years we dated, I've been there once. For a Thanksgiving dinner when my kids were gone. ONCE in five years.
But she came to our house for Father's Day..and it was VERY NICE!
(We've had a tumultuous relationship over the past 5 1/2 yrs. She HATED me for about 3 of those years, trying everyway in the world to get me out of her son's life. Then when she realized she couldn't, and that other people actually liked me she decided she would, too. It's a long story..one I may share someday.)
Anyway....we grilled steaks, and twice baked taters, and had a very nice time. She loves my dog and swears that SHE's the one who taught her to roll over for belly rubs!

YOU KNOW HE LOVES YOU WHEN day...
you come home from a day of inservice (workshops for teachers) and he has attempted to make the bed b/c he knows a made bed is important to you even though he never once made it in all his single years!

ANOTHER INSERVICE DAY
As an Arkansas teacher, we have to get a minimum of 60 "inservice" hours (continuing education is another term for it) during the summer before school starts again. (June 1-Aug 16) Some have to be in technology, some in Arkansas History, and some in Parental Involvement. The rest can be in whatever we are interested in.
Yesterday's class was a techie one. Using Publisher to make things for class.
Today's was a "fun" one. Growing Up Wild, sponsored by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. Teaching kids about the outdoors through stories, games, snacks, arts/crafts. We had a good time.
A lot of our workshops are held at our Co-op. It is currently housed in an old elementary school building.

PAYBACK DAY
When I moved, I had this big upright freezer I needed to get rid of. A friend's brother wanted it, so I told him that if he'd come get it, he could have it.
He "repaid" us today with a bushel of fresh purple hull peas (already shucked) and a bag of homegrown new potatoes!

DEER DAY
I think I've mentioned before all the deer that live and roam in our neighborhood.
Two does with their babies graced us with their presence in the neighbor's yard tonight.
And that's been the excitement around here!
The kids will be back tomorrow, so things will liven up, AND we will leave for Kentucky on Thursday, so next week's update will be a couple days late.
It's Family Reunion time. Every 5 years my mother's family all get together.
Believe me, a good time will be had.
And there will be lots of pictures!
I am participating in the 2010 Mommytography 365 Project!
For this year long project I will be posting an image a day.
I am hoping this will...
• help me find new things around me to focus my attention on
• share my world with my friends and family more
Anyone interested in photography can join, no need to be a Mommytographer.
