Matt-n-Mom Day..bowling!

I decided to let Matt come home with me yesterday for a one-on-one weekend. As you know, I like to do this with each child from time to time. When we were deciding what to do this morning, he suggested bowling.
He's been asking to go bowling for a long time.
In fact, we were gonna have a bowling birthday party last spring, but 2 weeks before the big day, the bowling alley burned down.
We just never got around to going after that.
So...when he requested it this morning, I thought, "SURE!"
I mean...just me and him...
in "the city".
noone we know would be there, most likely.
Surely I wouldn't embarrass myself.

ya see..it's been more than 20 years since I bowled. I took two semesters of it in college, for PE credits. Had the same coach both times. Thank goodness he liked me! That's all I'm gonna say!

But today....today was about Matthew. So we went.

Oh the shoes...the lovely shoes!! How could I have forgotten??

Hmmm..which ball should I use? The pink one...

or the Scooby Doo one?

Matt gets ready...

(sorry..cell phone pics are not as clear)

and he lets'er rip!

only 1 pin left standing!

Phew! Bowling is hard work!

We did get better as we went!

Game 1..ummm..not so good

Game 2 was a good one!

(look! I got over 100...that's better than I ever did in college!)

and game 3

(I'll blame that score on a sore arm and hungry tummy. Yeh...that's what it was!!!)

but it's lots of fun!

after all that hard work, I introduced Matthew to the fine dining of Long John Silvers. YUM!

There was so much food...we brought home enough to have for lunch tomorrow!

After a trip to Walmart to pick up a couple things for tonight's dinner, we made it home. The house is freezing cold, but we don't care. We had a great time today. It cost a lot more than going to the movies...($27.50 for 3 games and 2 shoe rentals) but I think they have summer saving deals, and I picked up a flyer about party deals.

We may have a new fun thing to do now.

What kinda average do you have to have to pass a bowling class? Ha!
Looks like you guys had a great day. Hush puppies sound good now.

Went bowling for my daughter's birthday back in December. Beat my high score - I got 65! Woohoo! I love that you have one-on-one time with your kids. They'll remember.

We love bowling. Isn't it so fun. I loved the scooby ball. Stunt Man would go nuts over that one. Yum to Long John silvers...we never go there because they are so far away.
