a Rainy Weekend

I love this painting. I don't really know why, though. Maybe just the love I feel that the couple has for each other, disregarding the rain to just dance together.
That's a great feeling!

It's been a rainy weekend here.
I went to get the boys at their dad's Friday night. On the way, Trey texted me asking if we could go to his school's football game. Of course, always wanting to be the fun mom, I said sure. It was sprinkling off and on between here and there, but at gametime was not raining.
I should've known better. As soon as all my kids went off to hang out with their friends, and I was left alone, in the bleachers, with people I use to know but wouldn't talk to me, it hit. The rain that is.
I continued to sit there, now bundled up in my jacket and a blanket..hoping my children would come back to me...but they didn't. They left me there...alone...in the rain.

As halftime approached, I texted Trey that I was ready to go. I was wet and cold...and finally had the epiphany that "I don't have a kid playing ball out there on the field...why am I sitting here in the rain?"
He didn't want to leave his friends, but was a good sport.

It rained all the way back to my house (70 miles away)
He drove...he's a good driver.

It's rained all weekend.
Anyone who knows me, knows that I am not a fan of the rain.
But it's been good for us. We didn't go anywhere (other than the 5 hours I put in at school yesterday morning/afternoon getting things ready for next week) except to the movie store to rent some movies. Of course noone could agree on one so they wound up each getting their own and secluding themselves in their own rooms for the evening.
So much for my hopes of Family Movie Time.

Today we slept in....then the kids' dad came and got the boys before lunch.
Molly and I went back to school and worked another 3 hours getting Literacy Centers ready for tomorrow. The stuff to do there never ends. There are a hundred other things that I need to do up there, but if I refuse to spend ALL weekend up there!
Especially when the kids are here.

Despite the rain, and the not wanting to spend "family time" with mom, it was a pretty nice weekend. No real fighting, no fussing over petty stuff. Everyone got along for the most part.
Now it's just me and Molly again.
The house is quiet.
It's kinda nice.

I'm about ready to tackle another busy week.

Wow, isn't that funny how you found me, lol! I'm glad you did!

I admire that you stayed out in the rain that long, considering you didn't have too! I hate being wet and cold too.

I have teens, too, and my mom lives with us and is ill quite often, so I guess we're both a part of that sandwich generation, in a way. Taking care of kids and parents.

Isn't it cool having a kid who can drive? I never thought I'd think that but it is very convenient, lol!
