2/3 of the way through a holiday weekend

"Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country. The History of Labor Day
So..in contradiction to the holiday requirement..I did in fact labor today. Oh..not much though. Molly and I did some cleaning around the house. Tomorrow will be a work day for me tho. Even tho school is not in session tomorrow, I'll be spending the better portion of my day there, rearranging, fixing bulletin boards cleaning-making more room, planning for the week...the usual weekend stuff..
The rest of the week is muy busy, too.
Tuesday: Filming "KTSS Talks" tv show to promote what the United Way does for Junior Auxiliary @ 3:30, then our Crown Club "Back to School" pool party/cookout and meeting @ 6:00.
Wednesday: Molly has GA's and I have choir practice. I sung in the choir this morning, only 1 of 2 sopranos (which made it hard for me b/c there were 2 hymns I kept wanting to slip down to alto and sing the harmony in, but then Carolyn would've been the only soprano and I couldn't do that to her)
Thursday: 2 hour Literacy meeting after school to look at assessment data from the past two weeks and group our 200 kids into reading groups. Then each teacher will be assigned as either a "high", "medium" or "low" teacher and get 3 of the same level group to teach for the Literacy Block portion of the day (which is half the day and encompasses guided reading groups, word study (spelling), and the writing block). The theory is that we can tailor our lessons to one main level to better serve students at their level instead of having all levels working on the same spelling and writing lessons. Sounds good, right? We'll see! In reality, I could lose half, or more, of "my kids" to other teachers for half the day. Sure..my "new kids" will become "MY" kids too...and I'll love them as my own....but ...
We'll see how it goes.
Friday: go to Glenwood to pick up the boys for the weekend.
That's as far as I have planned.

My dear dear friend Cheryl was in church today! She's been living in Kosovo with her husband for about a year. He was one of our circuit judges here, but then got called up to serve on a judicial review board in Kosovo, to review cases of the judges over there, or something. She decided to join him last year and quit her teaching job to go. She loves it there..."gotta go where the Lord calls ya," she said. She is a little bit older than I...maybe 10 years or so. Her 2 daughters are young adults now, one in college, one just graduated and married.
She wants Molly and me to come out to her house here one day next week for dinner and catching up. I just love her and am so excited that she's home for a few weeks. It was a nice surprise.
Molly and I watched "Bring It On-Fight to the Finish" today.

I actually enjoyed it. I think it's probably the best of the Bring it On movies. (there's either 4 or 5 of them now).
Weekend Movie Review
I already mentioned in my previous post about "I Love You Man", (cute, but not for kids).
"Sunshine Cleaners"--better than I expected. Not my usual "chick flick", but very entertaining with a good story. Much akin to "Little Miss Sunshine", but better, imo.
"Duplicity"--during the movie I wasn't sure if I was liking it...a lot of back and forth in the time line...but the ending made it all worth sticking it out for. And how could you turn off Clive Owen anyway? right? (yum)
so..there ya have it. 4 rentals this weekend.
I really wanted to go see the new Sandra Bullock movie, "All About Steve", but it was not to be.

maybe another time.

Last night Greg wound up grilling ribeyes and t-bones for us, since Alex won't be home Monday to have them. (he's going to a family thing with his mom.)
They were really good, but (and I know I'm sounding spoiled or ungrateful when I say this)...I'm really getting tired of steak! We seem to have it every weekend or so lately. It's always good...and it's something Greg can eat that won't make him sick, and he's the one paying for it...so who am I to complain? But I think last night I would've been just as happy with a big juicy cheeseburger from the grill. I'm just not a big steak eater.
Tomorrow night we are grilling salmon again. It turned out so good last time, he wants to try it again. He's like a kid with toy when it comes to his grill!
Well..I guess that's all i've got to share.
I hope you all have a wonderful holiday tomorrow and are able to enjoy it with the ones you love!

Love you!

You sound busy! I like the sound of the literacy thing. Our charter school in Idaho did something similar, and we loved it.
I have a busy week ahead, but not as unpleasant as last week's task, so I'll make it. Thanks for the words of encouragement. :)
