Pictures are worth more than words
Time for another picture entry of what's been going on in the wonderful world of me!
I think the weekend before Easter was where I last left off (for the 1 person here who actually read it)... so I'll start there.
April 22-30
EASTER WEEK Greg had decided he wanted to go out and get a new grill, so we we had one last meal on our little round grill.
Our furbabies wanted a bite, of course.
"You distract her and I'll grab the goods!"
"Moooooooom...make Molly share!"
No..they're all mine!
Oh no they're not!
One final run....
MMmmmmmmmmmmmm good eats

On Saturday,I was feeling rather meloncholy about this holiday weekend...the boys were not here, it was just me and Molly. My sister "ruined" our traditional Easter plans by changing them and then announcing how it was gonna be...(and we all know, I'm not big on change.)
So...Molly and I decided we needed to go get pedicures to cheer me up, after a long day of dress shopping.
Then we got our new grill.
On Sunday, we had our Easter musical at church, and of course the Easter Bunny came, but it was just not the same, altho my little spring chicken did look pretty cute in her dress.
We spent the rest of this week playing with the grill...
hamburgers, hot dogs,
brisket and corn...
and ribs
(A girl could get spoiled to all this...and I am!)

BIRTHDAYS and TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK
My mom's bday was April 25, and my sister's was April 26, and we ALWAYS have a family bday dinner to celebrate. Well, my sister once again made her OWN plans for a party, and then told us how it was gonna be...so we had to postpone our family dinner a week.
We did go to my sister's house for her own party...
I went to my mom's church to sing for her...a request she makes of me every year for her bday, and then we went to dinner and back to mom's house for cake. (My sister, btw, couldn't be bothered to come down to mom's to celebrate with us, even tho the party was for her, too.)
Trey, my oldest, had his awards night at school. He received a Knights Scholar 3 award...this is the equivalent to Honor Society at their school. He has won it all 3 years he's been in high school (he's finishing his junior year), and is one of only 4students who have done so.
It was Teacher Appreciation Week at school.
Hubby sent me some beautiful flowers claiming he was "teacher's pet".
And the kids came for Mother's Day weekend.
We played a lot of dominos and put that new grill to good use.

MOTHER'S DAY and beyond
The kids used their own money to buy me gifts this year.
Molly and Trey pitched in to get me a couple ferns (and then Greg bought me 2 more)
and Matthew bought me roses!
We fixed dinner for the MIL and had her over.
Molly had Science Fair that week.
And Maggie got into something smelly outside and had to have a bath.

A SLOW WEEK
Doesn't seem like much happened this week. Winding down the school year, but still with several weeks to go. Finishing up testing and getting grades recorded.
Of course we grilled...seems like we do that more often than not anymore.
We took some of this batch of ribs over to a friend and his wife. He has been battling leukemia for quite awhile now, and they are facing having to move out of their house into something smaller. As we were visiting, we were playing with their little dog, Tate, a King Charles Cavalier Spaniel, the very breed I've always wanted.
(think "Sex & the City---Charlotte's little dog, Elizabeth Taylor...only brown and black, kinda like this one...
)
Anyway...they said they would probably have to give him up when they moved and of course we told them how much we loved him. He took up with Greg right away..and kinda stole his heart! So...to skip ahead a little.... I got a message from them the other day that Tate wants to come live with us and we can have him as soon as Greg feels has reuperated enough from surgery to bring the dog home with us!
Anyway..back to the entry.
oh...it was this weekend also that the kids father, my ex, got remarried. After 9 years, and several fiancees, he finally did it! Meet Tonya, my chilren's new step-mom.
She's a nice girl...with 4 kids of her own. My kids love her tho, and she is good to them, which is all that matters to me.

THE LAST FULL WEEK OF SCHOOL and MORE BIRTHDAYS
Sunday, the 22nd, I was out watering my ferns on the back patio and saw some deer run through my nextdoor neighbor's yard. I then saw her come out, and she pointed down to a patch of grass at the corner of her patio, and lying there was this...
The mama had left him there for the moment, but of course was on standby watching..and by the next morning, he was gone.
the 24th was my son Matthew's 13th birthday.
I couldn't be with him...which was a little emotional for me, but we got through it.
We also had an appointment at the Neurosurgeons for Greg concerning his MRI results for that day.
Surgery on his neck was scheduled for the next week.
Not something we really wanted to hear, but at least it would relieve the pain he's been in for months, AND..we got to eat lunch at Red Lobster!
Friday night we celebrated Matthew's 13th bday along with my nephew Max's 2nd birthday. (another thrown together party b/c my sister messed up our family plans the previous weekend to have Max's party then. Just changed them..then announced what she was doing.)
Max likes his new toy!

LABOR DAY/1st ANNIVERSARY WEEKEND
I think I'm gonna like having anniversaries this time of year...seems like long weekends may be a regular thing for us!
Greg and I talked about going to Shreveport to eat dinner at TGIFridays, where we ate on our honeymoon when we couldn't get in to Rendezvous in Memphis b/c it was closed. Shreveport has the closest one to us, and we ate there for my bday and it was wonderful. We decided to just go and stay overnight (it's about 100 miles), but found out after checking online that all the hotels were booked...CRAWFISH FESTIVAL.
So..we changed plans and decided to try the next closest one, in North Little Rock (about 120 miles). Riverfest, a 3 day festival on the riverfront with concerts everynight, was going on, but there were still plenty of rooms there. So we booked one.
Our hotel was in a great spot..right behind the big mall there, with tons of eating and shopping all around. A place we may want to stay again when we want to a short little getaway with more time to spend.
We did go to TGIFridays, and the food was good..but not as good as the ones in Shreveport and Memphis.
But it was still good to just get away for a night.
and that brings us to this week...

THIS WEEK:
LAST WEEK OF SCHOOL and SURGERY WEEK
We were out of school Monday of course. That day was spent cleaning, doing laundry, and putting together all the photo albums of my students that I give each of them every year.
Tuesday was my last full day with my kids at school.
We watched the movie, "Benji"...
blew bubbles...
drew with sidewalk chalk...
and just spent the day enjoying each other.
I would be gone Wednesday and Thursday of this week, with Greg having surgery, and knew that after the Honor Roll assembly on Thursday several parents would take their kids home, and some would not return on Friday...so it was my last chance to see some of my precious babies. We took full advantage of the day!
Wednesday: Surgery Day. No Pics but everything came out fine.
Just a long day at the hospital, then I got home about 11:30 and had an emotional breakdown on Facebook, but got lots of support from friends who were up at that time, too. I ate supper, rearranged the living room furniture to make room for the hospital bed we rented to have at the house, and then collapsed about 1:30.
Thursday:
Molly's graduation----admist all the chaos, Molly graduated from 6th grade today.
She received 2 academic awards and a diploma.
I was so proud of her.
Then we rushed home to find the delivery guy waiting on us. He set up the bed, and then it was off to Texarkana to pick up Greg, who was ready to come home.
Now we've got him settled in...and he's bored already!
It's gonna be a long recovery period. He had an ACD done on his neck...they went in through the front and removed some bone from his C3/C4 and sucked out fluid from his hip bone to inject inbetween those 2 and then fused a plate on them to keep them held in place and not lying on each other. He'll be in a neck brace for 2-4 weeks, and isn't suppose to do much of anything for the first 2 weeks. But yeh...we'll see how that goes!
So now we are all caught up.
Tomorrow is the final day of school. Gotta get things packed up there.
Molly will go to her dad's for a couple weeks.
Greg will be home recovering.
I've got inservice Monday and Tuesday of next week..then I'm home for awhile.
Lots of cleaning to do here..and time to go through all the boxes I moved in here a year ago and still have not unpacked.
THAT is the goal for the summer!
