June 3- 12 Stuff in my life
summertime summertime sumsumsummertime...
Yep...that's what's goin on here in my little world.
It's been a busy 2 weeks since my last update of my goin ons.
Let's see....
Greg had surgery, Molly graduated elementary school, and I finished school.
But what about since?
Well...let's see.
June 3-5
THE WEEKEND
Friday was the last day of school. After missing the previous 2 days, I somehow, for the first time in my 21 year career, managed to get my classroom cleaned and packed up in ONE DAY!
Of course I only had 5 students show up...so that helped! I kept them busy with various activities and was able to "get'er done".
Greg was at home alone most of the day...but his mom did come check on him.
Saturday, I took Maggie to be groomed. When I left her, I had an uneasy feeling (first time using this groomer), but I loved the way she looked when I picked her up.

Sunday, I took Molly to her dad's to spend the next two weeks, and my highlight of the day was being Tweeted by Chef Michael Symon (from Iron Chef America).

THE FIRST WEEK OF SUMMER
yeh...right.
Monday I spent in an all day inservice on the new Common Core Standards.
It was fun hanging with some of my school friends, and getting to know 3 teachers that got moved to 1st grade with us for this upcoming year.
Oh..and Angie Harmon retweeted me to all her fans that day, too.
That made me smile!

Oh..this is Angie Harmon in case you're wondering who I'm talking about. She's currently on "Rizzoli and Isles", but use to be on other shows, like "Law & Order."

But the BIG EVENT of the day was bringing home the newest addition to our family.
Meet Tate.

He's a Cavalier King Charles spaniel. He belonged to some friends of ours, who could no longer afford to keep him b/c Gary has leukemia and another cancer, and they are in the process of downsizing and having to find a smaller place to live. They found someone to take their cat, and when they told us they were looking for a new family for Tate, well...he IS the kind of dog I've always wanted! And when we were over there visiting a few weeks ago, he took right to Greg, and then Greg dreamed that he lived with us and went to work with him everyday! It was just a God thing! So I got to bring him home before they left for MD Anderson in Houston for another round of tests.
Tuesday, I had a 1/2 day inservice...one I'd taken before, but needed the "technology credit" for it. Greg was still home recuperating.
(My sister sent me this picture from her hotel room at Mandolay Bay in Vegas.)

Several of my other teacher friends were also in Vegas for the conference I really wanted to attend. I was a little bitter about it...but as I've said before..I firmly believe in "Everything for a reason"...so I know now that I wasn't picked to go this year b/c God knew I'd be needed at home with Greg.
Tate was adjusting really well to our house. He LOVES to chase a soccer ball around. It is the cutest thing!

Maggie however was not impressed with her new brother (who coincidentally was born the same time she was)

Then Wednesday was my official first day of summer.
Since Greg was getting around really well, I left him for a few hours to go to Texarkana to have a little "me time", plus do the birthday shopping for

Thursday- Sunday...
I started cleaning.
I got the "boys' room" (which they just use as a dumping ground for their stuff...something I'd become guilty of,too) all cleaned out.
I did the same thing with my bedroom.
I wound up throwing out 2 garbage sacks full of junk, plus finding lots of stuff for an upcoming yard sale.
I also started walking....again.
1 mile the first couple days...then 2 miles a day since.
I've GOT to do something about my weight, so now is the time to do it.
Remember those 20 lbs I took off last fall? Well..they all came back, plus brought a few more of their friends.
*sigh*
So, no time like the present to get it back under control.
I've been getting up early each morning (whenever the dogs get me up), and going.
Early mornings all also a good time to see the deer in our neighborhood.

Other things that made me smile were... another retweet from Angie Harmon on Twitter

and a trip to Garland City to eat at Doc's...a steak/fish place people around here I've always heard people around here talk about, but had never been to.

So...the first week home... so exciting, I tell ya!
Actually, it was kinda nice...no kids....just us....of course he's on a hospital bed in the living room, and I've been having to get use to sleeping alone again after a year of being married. But hopefully that will change soon.
I'll catch up on the next week soon!
Suffice it to say...it's been another busy week.
