Project 365: The week before school starts

A Picture a day for 365 days...a year's worth of fun!

Project 365 button designed by http://richgift.blogspot.com

It's been another busy week. 4 of the 5 weekdays were spent at school in meetings and trying to get my classroom organized, but I did manage to take a few pics.

PREPARING FOR ANOTHER BUSY WEEK DAY
Trying to get organized and get some things done at home to take back to school. In the process of getting my name changed on legal things since getting married. This week it was time to turn in paperwork to the school for insurance, teacher retirement, and paycheck changes!

MAKE A TREAT DAY
Hubby had a hankerin for one of our latest favorite sweets, so we decided to make some.
Chocolate bacon!! YUM!!

It was all over the Food Network last fall, so we took the challenge and tried it...and even tho it sounds weird, it really is good. We make it periodically now.

MEETING AFTER MEETING DAY

We had inservice meetings and staff development all week, and I even had to get organized with my fellow PTO officers and make sure we were ready to begin a new year. Left the house at 8am, didn't return from today's meetings until after 7pm. Long day!

GEARING UP FOR THE WATERMELON FESTIVAL DAY
Our town's annual festival was Thursday-Saturday. It's a big to-do here and we are involved in it. During our lunch break from a wonderful staff development presented by Martie White, I saw these melons on display at a local restaurant.

(We ARE the home of the world's largest watermelons....it's in the Guiness Book of World Records and everything!)

STILL HARD AT IT DAY

As I previously mentioned, Marti White, from Orlando, Florida, came to present her workshop to us for 2 days. She was a GREAT speaker and we came away with a lot of good information and stratagies, and had a fun time with her.

A DAY WITH THE KIDS
My kids had been at their dad's for over a week and it was time for them to come home. I forfeited working in my classroom this day (which I will now pay for by having to stay late today!) to go get them and spend the day playing with them. We went into Hot Springs to have lunch and hang out. They chose Ryan's Buffet to eat at,

and we were able to finish getting Molly's bday present. She wanted a new papazan (sp?) chair, since her's had broken, but we weren't able to find one, so she opted for a new comforter set instead.

PLAYING WITH THE POLITICIANS DAY
Watermelon Festival brings out all the local politicians, on the state and US level both. Having a hubby who owns the tv station means we get to interview them. Also, quite a few are from this area, which means hubby has known them for a long time.
Hubby and his crew started the broadcast...

while politician served up watermelon.

US Senator Blanche Lincoln, and US Congressman (and good friend of my hubby's) Mike Ross

Then we interviewed them....

Jerry and Governor Beebe

and filmed the "Politically Correct Watermelon Eating Contest."
(THIS is a big deal here...in that our local Vice-Mayor has won for the past 6 years, but this year there was an upset! It was a grand time!)

Yes...a busy, but exciting week, but nothing like the upcoming one.
School is starting, so there is still so much left to do, plus the big day on Thursday when I get to finally meet all those bright, shiny faces I'll have in my class this year.

This is the week of little sleep and high anticipation! But oh what a grand week it will be!

I am participating in the 2010 Mommytography 365 Project!
For this year long project I will be posting an image a day.
I am hoping this will...

• help me find new things around me to focus my attention on
• share my world with my friends and family more

Anyone interested in photography can join, no need to be a Mommytographer.

Chocolate bacon? Never tried it...it sounds like it would ruin two things I love : ) I can't get my head around it...is it a snack? Breakfast? Dessert?

Have a nice week!
