Open House--a new year

Today is Open House at my school.
Time to put faces to all those names I've been writing on labels and nameplates and tags and folders.
Time to start another year of molding young minds.
Time to meet the new loves of my life.
Seems like just yesterday I met my first group of students.
It wasn't...that was August 1989....but it seems like it. Those kindergarteners are now grown, out of college, and have families of their own. (and some of found me on Facebook and do my heart proud!)
Also seems like yesterday I was sending my own children off to their first day of first grade (which is what I teach.)
Trey

Matthew

MollyAnn

But it also wasn't.
And soon.....in two more days actually...they will be starting another year of education. Trey will be a junior, with just this and one more year left at home.
Matthew will be in 7th grade...starting to become a man.
And my babygirl, MollyAnn, will be in her last year of elementary school.

It just doesn't seem possible.
So, as I meet and greet all my fresh new shiny 6 year old faces today, it will take me back to when my own babies were that age...so full of excitement for learning. I accept the challenge of this new year, so full of hope, eagerness, and curiosity.
I can't wait for it to begin!
