A Kidful Weekend

It's been a weekend full of kidlets!
Friday began the fun with Molly having a friend stay over.
Melanie is the 11 yr old daughter of my friend Trish whom I've become closer friends with since summer. She arrived around 4:30 and the fun began.
The girls had a great time all night long. And I do mean ALL. night. long!
They started the evening by devouring most of a large pizza, then having chips and dip while watching a movie. All this was completed by 6:30.

What to do next?....Clean Molly's room of course! Bless her heart, Melanie started reorganizing Molly's room and it took her most of the night! But she did a great job! And they took a break around 8:30 to make cookies, too.
Maggie, tho, couldn't figure out why she wasn't allowed in Molly's room for all of this:

Sometime after 1am, they started playing dress up..or make up..or beauty shop or something. All I know is that at 2:00am I was rolling Melanie's baby fine hair in hot rollers and they were applying my make up to their faces!

NOT YET MOM!! Don't look yet!

Looking for something to wear...

Aren't they lovely??

Aren't they cute?
Not so cute at 3am when, after just finally dozing off, I awoke to find that they'd popped popcorn and were STILL UP!!

Saturday morning Trish brought donuts over when she came to pick up Melanie, and then offered to have Molly come spend the day at their house while I drove to Arkadelphia to spend the day with Matthew.
See...Trey's youth group was going to Arkadu (as we who went to college there call it) for the Battle of the Ravine---the big football game between my alma mater, Ouachita Baptist University, and the rival college across the street, literally, Henderson State University. Since Trey wanted to stay at his dad's this weekend so he could ride the church van to the game and back with his new girlfriend, and since Arkadu is halfway between where they live and where I live, we arranged for Matt to also ride the van and meet me there to spend time together while the big kids were at the game, and then he'd ride back home on the church van.
We drove to Hot Springs and had lunch together, then walked around the mall and he showed me all the video games he wants for Christmas and tried his darndest to get me to buy him one then! But I was strong and didn't give in. I wanted to....but I can't have him thinking that just because I only get to see him on weekends that it means I will buy him things everytime we're together! But even tho I didn't ply him with gifts, we still had a great time and he didn't want it to end!

Oh..did I tell you what he did get? Not from me, but from his dad.
A dog.
A basset hound! a 9 month old basset hound that he named Gracie.

Trey had a dog, their dad had a dog, Matt did not, yet one of his chores was to clean up dog poo from the yard, so their dad decided it only fitting he have a dog of his own to clean up after.
He was thrilled!

And speaking of Trey, he is now "in a relationship", as his Facebook status reports. A nice little girl named Asia. She's in the 8th grade (he's in 10th), but is homeschooled, so he only sees her at church on Wednesdays, Sundays, and for youth outings. Of course they text all the time. I got to meet her Saturday when dropping Matt back off with the youth. I was trying to get a pic of them with my phone, but Trey kept throwing his hand up in front of his face, so Asia took his phone and snapped one of them together, then texted it to me!! HA!
I like that girl!

When we were all loading up to leave, and I was hugging my boys, she wanted a hug, too. That made me smile. This whole girlfriend thing is new territory to me....but so far I'm ok with it!

Speaking of hugs...I got flirted with pretty heavily by one of Trey's classmates while we were all together, too. This cute young man, (think Zac Efron, but not quite so girlie looking) was so very obviously staring at me as I was talking to everyone when Matt and I arrived at McDonald's, where they were. He started trying to engage me in all sorts of conversations everytime there was a break in my conversations with others. Then, when the woman I was sitting next to got up to leave, he came over and sat next to me...........and did the funniest thing I've had done to me in a long time. As we're sitting there, he does the old "yawn, stretch and put your arm around the girl" move. ON ME!! omg! I about fell out of my chair! It was priceless!
He was such a cutie, and had I been 25 years younger, oh boy, he'd been in trouble.
When they were all leaving, Jeremy, the youth director (and a boy I taught in high school for a short spell about 15 years ago when I was long term subbing) was making sure all the kids were accounted for, and I said that he better not leave any b/c I wasn't taking any with me! Cody (the cute boy) gave me this dejected look and said, "Awww c'mon! I thought we had a connection here!"
LMAO....oh man...what that 17 yr old did for this 42 yr old's ego....
yeh, I left there feeling good!

Anyway...it was definitely a weekend full of kid time.
Molly and I have had a nice quiet day at home today. I needed to go work at school for a few hours to prep for the week, but I didn't. I let it go and stayed home. Did do some cleaning...and laundry...and cooking...but it was ok.

And now it's time to put a lid on another weekend and get ready for another busy full week. But there's always next weekend to look forward to.

and it's gonna be a GIRL DAY! Christmas shopping with my mom and daughter!
Just gotta survive til then!!

Y'all have a great week!

Oh how funny!!!!

I don't blog this, but now... I can tell YOU! The football players have this song... that they sing when I'm around. They do it kinda "Under their breath" thinking I don't get it or know what they're doing. But Mathew (AKA: Sunshine) reports back to me. They sing "Sunshine's Mom" to the tune of "Stacey's Mom". Do you know that song?

It is so inappropriate and so flattering at the same time. And the whole team knows about it and Mathew scolds them each and every time, but he knows it sure makes this 36 year old feel good. ha ha ha

WHat a fun time for the girls to have. That is so cool about him getting a dog too. It does teach responsiblity. Oh I dread the boyfriend years.

Wow, you are so much more patient than me. I'm not letting my girls read how late yours stayed up!! :)
Sounds like you had a packed-to-the-gills weekend!

Thanks for coming to say hi. :)
