The week it snowed *lots of pics*

So...last week I left you with a teaser to come back and see pics of our "Winter Weather". I was being kinda sarcastic, because our "winter weather" usually doesn't amount to much.
BOY WAS I WRONG THIS TIME!!
so prepare for some major snow pics...well, major for THIS part of the country: extreme southwest Arkansas, at the Texas/Louisiana state lines!

THE DAY THE SNOW FELL
I was working at school when the snow began to fall somewhere between 10:30-11:00am. I didn't realize it had started until I walked out into the hall to go to the workroom, and saw it. Decided I better pack up and head home, b/c our roads are known to ice up quickly.
The house looked like this when I got there.
We monitored the snow at first by watching it collect on top of our grill.
a little later like this:
and then by supper time....
The boys did not come this weekend due to impending bad weather...which was good, because even tho we didn't have anything Friday night/Saturday, by the time I could've even left the house to get them home early, I would've been stuck right in the middle of it. But Molly and I didn't let them not being here ruin our fun.
Molly's "snowbaby"
We made "snowcream".
By nightfall it was beautiful outside, and Molly and Maggie played some more....
but Maggie was soon worn out and found a nice place by the fire to lie down...
and we roasted marshmallows.

SNOW DAY 1 (as in, stay home from school)
Now it's a rarity that weather keeps us home from school, but we enjoyed the day off. The snow was deep (for us...7-8 inches..VERY DEEP)
front yard pics
the dogs enjoyed it
Molly went to a neighbor's to help her build a snowman

THE SNOW WON'T KEEP US HOME
We were out for another snow day. So many back roads were still frozen and buses couldn't safely drive them, but in town, the snow was melting.
The main roads were clear, and cabin fever was setting in, so Molly and I took off to investigate and see how far we could get.
First stop...the tv station where I went out on the roof to survey the land.
Yep..roads clear, so we headed to the "city", via the interstate route.
We did see a tanker truck turned over along the way.
But we were 2 girls happy to be out of the house.
Did a little book shopping and got our McD's on!

BACK TO SCHOOL DAY
The kids were all glad to be back, full of stories of snow adventures.
I took them outside to snap their picture in the snow.
So many of these kids wind up grown with no pictures of their childhood. I always make an album of pictures for each of my students to give them on the last day of school.

RITE OF PASSAGE DAY
When we went shopping Tuesday, I made a purchase for Molly, of something I realized she was finally old enough to have. Something that I, myself, had when I was her age.
After reviewing it Wednesday, I finally, with a heart full of "oh my gosh I can't believe my baby is old enough to have this now" feelings, presented her with this.
Her very own copy of "Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret". (which she promptly read in one day!
*sigh*
My baby really is growing up!

ANOTHER GIRL WEEKEND
The boys had to stay home to help their dad and his fiancee start moving into their new house so Molly stayed here with me again. Now, for those that have followed the story for some time... this makes finacee number 3, but this time, he is buying a house, before they even get married.
Not speaking ill of him, but with his track record...I hope it's not a mistake.
So...anyway...
since they boys didn't come, and Molly didn't go there, after a quick Scentsy Party at a friend's house, we came home and played dominoes. (and I won!)

GIRL'S DAY OUT
We had thought that we would be getting our bonus money from the school this weekend on this pay period, but oh no....the powers that be get a little persnickety when anyone asks questions, so they are punishing us now by holding it til the end of the month. I'd alreayd told Molly that we could have a shopping day since the boys weren't with us. They all 3 need new clothes and shoes, which is what my bonus money is going towards. But, since it didn't come in, we couldn't do a whole lot of shopping.
However, she reminded me that she still had Christmas money, and had finished the book I'd given her, so we headed back to "the city" to Books-A-Million for more books.
She wound up with 3 hardbacks, from the Princess Diaries series by Meg Cabot for $8.
(buy 2 get one free/clearance rack/and mom's educator's discount!)
I got some stuff for school, again, too!
(combined with Tuesday's purchases, I've spent over $100 this week there on school stuff alone.)
When we got home, I found out I'd won the prize at last night's Scentsy party and was able to get a bunch of free and 1/2 price stuff! So...
I ordered one of these to give my mom for her birthday in April!
She will love it!
Well, as you can see..it was a busy week.
The snow has finally all melted...with the help of the rain that's been falling since the middle of the night. It's kinda dreary out, but I've got stuff to do.
I need to go up to the school and do some prep work for the upcoming week.
We are out tomorrow for MLK,Jr day, but I plan to spend most of it back up at school cleaning out my cabinets that have been stuffed so full they barely open.
I know there were a lot of pics this time..but snow is such an oddity here, I had to capture as much of it as I could.
Don't get me wrong...I'm not a winter kinda girl. But it *was* pretty! And as long as it goes as quickly as it comes...I can handle a day or two of it!
I hope you all enjoy this upcoming week! See ya on the flip side!
Comments
I really like the shadow on picture #11.
Gorgeous, gorgeous pictures.
What a beautiful family you have!
And congratulations your Scentsy win. I use those, too.
