Well, here we are..the last week of the calendar year.
The last week of the Project 365 year, as well.
It's been an interesting journey, being challenged to find something each day to photograph. I didn't always succeed..but I had fun trying.

So..for my last week of 2010 I give you....

1/2 PRICE DAY

This is my favorite time of year to shop....not Black Friday, but the day after Christmas.
I get a LOT of my stuff for the next year on this day.
~Coloring books and stockings, along with the stocking stuffers, for my next year students
~Wrapping and bows and boxes
~Gifts for my coworkers (all the counselors, secretaries, principals, and colleagues that I don't buy more "personal" gifts for...usually something seasonal like an ornament or notepads or something small.)
I love this day.
This pic was the first of many shopping trips this week as I hit all the stores and Walmarts I passed in my travels.

TURN OUR HOUSE INTO A HOME DAY
It was time to take down all the Christmas decor.
It was also time to start personalizing our house.
Greg and I often joke about "hanging pictures" in his house.
See...the very first time he ever invited me over to his house, back in February of 2005, it was to "help him hang pictures." He'd lived in this house for a couple of years, post-divorce, and his mother had done all the decorating for him. What had been done anyway. He had stacks of pictures and photographs that still needed hanging on the walls. So, he invited me to come help him do it.
Like I said..that was in Feb 2005.
It never got done!
We joked about it all these years...
So today, we did something about it.
When I cleaned up the house today, I sorted what I wanted hung, and what went into storage. I pulled out pictures I'd packed when I moved in and we got busy hanging.
No more bare walls in our bedroom, nor in the hallway.
Our house now feels more like a "home".

MAGGIE GOES TO THE GROOMER DAY
I'd put it off as long as I could. She was so matted.
I was not happy with the outcome. I wanted her to look more like her cocker half than her poodle half. Oh well....I still love her.

LUNCH WITH A FRIEND DAY

I have several friends that live up in Memphis, which is about 4 hours or so away from here.
One of my girlies from there asked if I'd like to meet herin Little Rock, the halfway point, for lunch while we were out of school. Of course I jumped at the chance! I hadn't seen her since my honeymoon, when she met me for breakfast before Greg and I drove back home.
It was a much needed girlie day! One I thoroughly enjoyed!

CLEAN THE GAMEROOM DAY
I wish I had some before pics, b/c this room was SOOOO cluttered and messy.
The boys practically live in there when they are here. It has a bathroom in there and the tv/dvd player and all the game equipment is there, both mine and Greg's computers, the pool/air hockey table, the domino/card table, plus a mini-fridge and the stereo system. Trey even sleeps in there.
Why would they need to come out? LOL

They turn the love seat to face the tv and only get off of it to potty!
There are always blankets and clothes and trash covering everything, plus with it being Christmas, the pool table became the dumping/wrapping station for gifts.
It was just horrible.
But I got it whooped back into shape.
Well...except for my computer desk. A girl's gotta have SOME place to pile her stuff, right?

COLLEGE ROOMIE DAY
Not only was I blessed with getting to have lunch with my Memphis friend on Wednesday this week, I also go to spend time with my college roommate from 20+ years ago, whom I have not seen in about 15 years! Even tho we live only about 100 miles apart since I moved to Hope (she's in Shreveport), timing has just never been our friend. We made it our friend this time!
And it was like no time had passed at all! From the minute she stepped out of her car in the parking lot of the restaurant until we were pulling away to go home, it was as if we'd seen each other just yesterday. Chatter chatter chatter....laugh laugh laugh...and more laughing..
That is true friendship.
And trust me, it will NOT be 15 more years before we do it again!
This was us then...1988

This is us now:

PEAS AND CABBAGE DAY aka NEW YEAR's DAY
Growing up I always heard you had to have black-eyed peas on New Year's Day to bring good luck for the coming year.
When I met Greg, I was introduced the concept of having to also have something green to bring monetary fortune in the coming year...and it has to be Cabbage.
Now...I love black-eyed peas. No problem eating those.
But cabbage?? seriously? cooked?? EWWWWWWWWW
but I finally broke down this year and tried a bite.

Still ewwwwwwwwwww!! But it won't be my fault now if we are poor by year's end!

So...that wraps up a year's worth of daily pictures.
It was a fun challenge.
I think I shall do it again for this next year. Am thinking of some kind of twist for it....haven't decided yet tho. So stay tuned and see what I come up with.

oh..and have a great 2011!!

I participated in the 2010 Mommytography 365 Project!
For this year long project I posted an image a day.
I was hoping this would...
• help me find new things around me to focus my attention on
• share my world with my friends and family more
I think it did
Anyone interested in photography could join, no need to be a Mommytographer.
