Birthday Week continues...


(that's how old I am now)


In my family, we are known to take the smallest achievement and milk it for all it's worth! Birthdays are no different. We don't just celebrate on the actual anniversary of the day of our births, oh no! We do it up big all week long!

I've already shared my family birthday celebration that occurred Sunday at my parents' house. Well..let me fill you in on the happenings since then.

Monday: the day before my birthday....
I received my first birthday cards in the mail.

Tuesday: my actual birthday.....
a birthday donut, in lieu of a birthday cake, since the children I have that would have actually thought to make or provide a bday cake for me were at their dad's, this had to do. (and notice..not even a candle for it. I lit a match and stuck it in there so I could blow it out!)
I had lunch with a friend...her treat, for my birthday, but that was all the birthdayish stuff that went on. (Greg got sick so we couldn't go out for dinner.)
Oh wait..not true!
I got over 150 birthday wishes on Facebook, too! THAT was amazing.

Wednesday...today.
Trey and I spent the day at the Louisiana Boardwalk in Bossier City (in the Shreveport area...it's just 90 miles from where we live.)
We ate at Joe's Crab Shack, for my birthday lunch....


...rode the carousel


....and had cheesecake instead of birthday cake, at the Cheesecake Bistro. (Dulce de Leche and Praline cheesecake...best thing I ever put in my mouth!)




Greg is still sick...heart troubles...so dinner was put off again.

So...so far, it's been a pretty good week.
Hopefully Greg and I can celebrate Friday night and then my birthday will be complete.

Not so bad for an old lady of 43!

I see tons of cute ones everyday when I'm perusing pinterest. I could do that. maybe. no...probably not. But I might try. This place did not turn out the way I wanted it to. I have my personal "diary" blogs/journals elsewhere. This one is too public for that anymore. I should make it something fun. I don't want to lose it. Erica made it so cute for me. I don't even know how to do that... or, for that matter, delete the entries I have here. I can't find the "dashboard" button that use to be there. hmmmm.. This may take more time than I thought.

Today is Alphabe-Thursday. That means my blog is brought to you by the letter C...so let's get right down to it. is for ahhh...the simplicity of crayons! An essential tool in my profession, and yet such a vital part of our lives. Crayons have the ability to color our world. They add life to simple drawings, brighten up the darkest of pictures, and create rainbows on rainy days. After completing a writing assignment my students will often ask...."Do we have to draw a picture?" "Of course you do!! And use your crayons!" I will reply. And then the real feelings of their topic show through. Without color, how dull our lives would be. No yellow sunshiny days. No pink cotton candy. No blue skies and green grass. Lollipops would be tasteless and lemonade would be just water. The fashion industry would go bust and movies would not be worth seeing. Crayons add life. They add spirit. And they make me smile.
