a pretty great week


Hmmm...no comments on last week's entry.
Jenny Matlock emailed me and said she couldn't find a place to leave one, but everytime I've come back to my entry, it's right there.
Weird!
I hope this one allows them, because even tho I don't get many here, I do love them!!

Ok..on to the happenings of my life.

Sunday, March 6
WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER
As most of you probably know...I am a Facebook addict. I love that site.
I also got suckered in to playing Family Feud on there. I use to do it everyday, but could never seem to earn as many points as my friend Cynthia, or coworker Mary, or cousin Tanya. NEVER. I asked Cynthia her secret once, and she said that she doesn't play on the weekends, so that on Monday mornings, she has several games saved up and it gives her the opportunity to earn a lot of points at once.
So...
I gave up on the game for a week, and then today I played like 6 games, and helped lots of friends with their "fast money" rounds...and VOILA! I got the HIGH SCORE for the first time ever!!

I was sure it wouldn't last tho!

Monday, March 7
AN APPLE FOR THE TEACHER

One of my sweet babies brought me this apple today.
He said that he brought it to me cuz "all teachers like apples". *smiles*

I also was given another "apple" of the day...
At lunch I was checking my tweets on Twitter and I follow several celebrities on there..cuz I'm just like that! Anyway, Angie Harmon (from Rizzoli & Isles, and old Law & Order)had posted this funny video, so I replied to her thanking her for sharing it, that my teacher co-horts and I had laughed all through lunch over it.....
AND SHE TWEETED ME BACK!!!
I was soooooo excited. AND..she thanked ME for being a teacher!

Yeh...I was stoked!

TEACHER OF THE MONTH

I guess this was just teacher week or something, because I was chosen as the 1st grade teacher of the month for March. There are 11 of us.
It affords me a parking spot up front, and a free meal from McDonald's!

EARLY BIRTHDAY PRESENT

I saw this purse while looking for clothes for my kids to wear at a photo shoot tomorrow. I texted a pic of it to Greg and said he could get it for me for my birthday. He told me to go ahead and get it.
so I did, but I'm gonna wrap it and make him give it to me on my actual birthday in 10 days!
It matches the bag I carry to school each day!

Saturday, March 12
STILL HIGH SCORER

When I checked on Saturday, I still had the high score of all my friends for the week.
But alas...as of this morning, Sunday, as I type this.....it is no more.
I've been knocked down to #19.
So much for living the high life!!

This next week looks to be pretty (as in weatherwise), and busy. It's our last week before spring break. Molly has her last G/T Quiz Bowl competition, and I'm going with her to that.
Should be a lot of fun.

So..it's a new year. And I haven't posted here since..umm..May. I have been thinking of deleting this blog..or at least all the entries in it, and starting over. Maybe a school blog. I see tons of cute ones everyday when I'm perusing pinterest. I could do that. maybe. no...probably not. But I might try. This place did not turn out the way I wanted it to. I have my personal "diary" blogs/journals elsewhere. This one is too public for that anymore. I should make it something fun. I don't want to lose it. Erica made it so cute for me. I don't even know how to do that... or, for that matter, delete the entries I have here. I can't find the "dashboard" button that use to be there. hmmmm.. This may take more time than I thought.

Today is Alphabe-Thursday. That means my blog is brought to you by the letter C...so let's get right down to it. is for ahhh...the simplicity of crayons! An essential tool in my profession, and yet such a vital part of our lives. Crayons have the ability to color our world. They add life to simple drawings, brighten up the darkest of pictures, and create rainbows on rainy days. After completing a writing assignment my students will often ask...."Do we have to draw a picture?" "Of course you do!! And use your crayons!" I will reply. And then the real feelings of their topic show through. Without color, how dull our lives would be. No yellow sunshiny days. No pink cotton candy. No blue skies and green grass. Lollipops would be tasteless and lemonade would be just water. The fashion industry would go bust and movies would not be worth seeing. Crayons add life. They add spirit. And they make me smile.
