I'm baaaaack!!! (said in my best Jack Nicholson voice!!)
I've been to Vegas, made it home, visited with my favorite future president of the United States, and have started another busy busy week.
But let me spend a few minutes with you while I can!! I've so much to share!

LUNCH WITH A FRIEND DAY

I have this friend here in town that I hadn't seen since school got out. We go to church together, our daughters are friends, and we use to have "date night" on Wednesdays when we'd meet at church for dinner, then we co-led our ladies' Bible study together. She remarried in March, and I, of course, in May, and life has just been busy for us since. It was good to not only get to have lunch with her at The Olive Garden that day, but to also go get pedicures together. (a treat I almost never do.) It gave us lots of time to catch up with each other!

GOIN' TO VEGAS DAY

My school sent 12 of us to the Differientated Instruction Conference in Las Vegas--all expenses paid except for souveniers! It was 5 days of fun and learning, and getting to know some co-workers better. My 2 bestie co-teacher friends also got to go, so we truly had a blast!

EXPLORING THE STRIP
After our sessons (classes), my 2 besties and I decided to explore Circus Circus, across the street from our hotel, the Riviera, and we played in the arcade...

...and I pulled my first penny slot machine. I'm not a big gambler..really don't believe much in it overall, but the pennyslots were kinda fun...and I won big! I started with $5 (the most I EVER put in) and more than doubled it!

Later we met up with the rest of our coworker/friends and rode the bus down the strip to eat dinner at Toby Keith's I Love This Bar. Great food and lots of fun!

After that, we made it to the Bellagio to watch the Fountain Show, then explored the strip a little more before riding the bus back up the strip to our hotel to crash for the night.

THE MOST FUN DAY IN VEGAS EVER
My 2 besties and I skipped out on the afternoon sessions (1 had been cancelled right after lunch, so why not take advantage of free time and just skip the later one, too, right?) and explored the strip on our own. We saw SOOO much and did SOOO much.

Outside The Mirage:

Treasure Island: We wanted to see the Pirate Show, but found out it only played at night.

We went inside to cool off (112 degrees that day in Vegas) and played a few more slots (my friends were determined to win a gazillion dollars! I found MY game..a penny slot of Sex and the City...and put in $5 dollars. I won $40 off that machine. A few mores spins brought me back down a little, but I still came out ahead.

Further down the strip, we had lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe

and shopped first at The Coca-Cola store

and M&M World.

I loved all 3 of these places the most!!

Then it was time for an adventure...not for ME, but my friends.
We went over to the NEW YORK NEW YORK hotel

and they decided to ride the roller coaster. too scary for me...so I looked around!
This Statue of Liberty is made entirely of Jelly Bellies!

Soon it was time to meet our friends at Margaritaville for supper.

A SUPER fun place!!

after that..a trip up the strip to find a bus led us back to Harrah's so my friends could pull a few more slots.

It was here that I LOST MY CAMERA and prayed and prayed to God that if He'd let me find it, I would not gamble anymore. (I had just about broken even...only being a few dollars ahead of my total betting.) He did...so I didn't anymore the rest of the trip. GOD IS GOOD!

We made our way from there to the "pirate show" at Treasure Island. We were expecting a swashbuckling pirate show. Not so. Sirens of TI was more of a sexy show. We were disappointed to say the least. So...after that, we were so hot and sweaty we headed back to the hotel to call it a night.

TITANIC DAY

This was a truly cool experience. When you arrive, you get a boarding pass for an actual passenger. You go through the voyage step by step, seeing artifacts that have been uncovered, including "the big piece" of the ship. At the end, there is a memorial wall where you can find out if your passenger survived or not.
Mine did.
A totally moving and emotional experience.
I reccommend it.

It's at the Luxor hotel.

Another cool spot!

MEETING A FRIEND DAY
This was our last day of sessions, and our last day to take in all that we could of the strip.
After our last class, my friends and I decided to head UP the strip to the Stratosphere and then ride all the way down to the other end to finish seeing what we'd missed.
The Stratosphere is TALL..and there's rides on the top. (not for me, tho..I'm a chicken!)

Down at the OTHER end of the strip was Mandalay Bay...one of the classiest hotels we'd seen all week. It even has its own BEACH!

Then...one of the best parts of the trip for me finally happened!
I got to meet one of my long-time online diary friends for the first time in person.
Shauna and I have been reading each others diaries, at various sites, for about 8 years I guess..maybe even longer. We've shared so much of our lives together, the ups and downs, the happys and sads, my divorce, her marriage and birth of her baby...so I was incredibly happy to finally be able to get to meet her face to face.
And we had so much fun! We found out that we were even more alike than we'd realized, and...because she knows me so well...she offered to take me to the one place I'd been missing all week...

WALMART!

yes.that's right. I went to a Las Vegas Walmart! LOL
my trip was now complete!

I wish we could've spent more time together, but her little boy was home sick, and she had to work the next day, so it was a short but thoroughly enjoyable evening!

LEAVING LAS VEGAS BUT RUNNING INTO A (HOPEFULLY) FUTURE PRESIDENT DAY
our flight was scheduled to leave at 3:30.
We had to check out of the hotel at 11:00
We spent our last lunch in the same restauarant we'd eaten our first Vegas meal in, then boarded our private shuttle to head to the airport.

Despite delays and an airport alarm going off at the Vegas airport, we made it to DFW (Dallas/Ft Worth) on time to catch our flight into Little Rock, and who should be standing there, waiting to board the same flight, but our "homeboy" Mike Huckabee!

He is from our town, is friends with my husband, his mother-in-law is our neighbor, but it's still kinda thrilling to get to visit with him in person!

Even with all that excitement...I was ready to get home. Our plane landed, and by the time we dropped off those that rode with us, it was after 2am when I walked in my door. I don't know who was happier to see me..my new hubby or my puppy (altho the dog did lick me more! LOL)

RECOUPING DAY
I didn't do much of anything today other than laundry and playing with the dog.
She'd gotten a new bed (which she just plays in) and I brought her a toy from the M&M World store, so we just spent time together.

FAMILY BIRTHDAY DAY
Tonight was my family's July birthday dinner in honor of my hubby and brother who both have birthdays this week.
Most everyone was there..niece and nephews to entertain us, gifts, good food, fun times.

And I got to bring my kids home with me. (They'd stayed at their dads while I was gone.)

SPENDING TIME WITH THE KIDS DAY
I'd been asked to sing in church today, so we all went. AFter, the kids wanted to go eat locally and just rent movies and stay home, rather than head into the city to see a movie in the theater. So that's what we did.
We also discovered that those 3 little eggs in the nest on the carport had hatched and we now have 3 baby birds there.
(kinda blurry, sorry)

It was just a relaxing day.
The upcoming week (this week) would be very busy again, so we enjoyed a restful day.

And now you are all caught up on my adventures! I hope you've enjoyed the ride through my life!

It may not be terribly exciting at all times..but there's never a dull moment in this 3-ring circus that is my life!

I am participating in the 2010 Mommytography 365 Project!
For this year long project I will be posting an image a day.
I am hoping this will...

• help me find new things around me to focus my attention on
• share my world with my friends and family more

Anyone interested in photography can join, no need to be a Mommytographer.

Awesome pictures, what a blast you must have had! Glad you got to meet your diary friend too.

112 sounds waaaay to hot for me. 104 last year was hot enough, plus we have the humidity. I'm hoping August won't be to bad!
