Project 365---Family reunion week
A Picture a day for 365 days...a year's worth of fun!

Well, I was on vacation last Sunday when I should've posted my "week in pics", so this week I will just catch you all up on what you've been missing! (I know I know...you have been waiting with baited breath for my return!!)

Sunday-June 27
QUIET DAY
Somehow I slept in til after 11am...something I've never done in my life...and missed church. Went to lunch at the MIL's with hubby and stepson, then back home.
While outside looking at flowerbeds (that have no flowers and are currently in bad need of some TLC) I spotted stepson's cat peeking out at us from his window.

Monday-June 28
SECRET SHOPPER DAY
They got a pretty good review this time.

Tuesday-June 29
DON'T CLEAN THE CARPORT DAY
We have these shelves and cabinets in our carport that are piled up with "man stuff" and I REALLY want to clean them out....but that will have to wait.
Currently there are not one, but TWO, birdnests on the shelves. And one has eggs in it.

Wednesday-June 30
PACKING AND GETTING READY TO GO ON OUR TRIP DAY
While I burned 20 cds with old family pics to take to the reunion (and did 4 more loads of laundry that somehow did not make it into the laundry room when I asked...) we found time to watch a movie together.

Thursday-July 1
ON THE ROAD DAY
Got Lola, the GPS, programmed with our destination, 500 miles away....
Goodie bag packed....
along with the emergency sugar rush for when ya get sleepy at the wheel...
crossed the Mississippi River into Memphis....
and stopped northeast of Memphis at Germantown's Wolfchase Galleria for lunch
to ride the carousel!
(They use to get so excited when we'd stop here and I'd take pics of them on the "many-go-round" as Molly use to call it.)
Back in the car...It's a long way to GG's house. (GG=Great Grandmother, the name my kids gave my grandmother.)
We arrived in Kentucky, unloaded at the hotel, and then headed out to "the farm" to join the family who'd already arrived. My grandmother and all her siblings were there. (She is on the far right, and is the oldest of the family. Her youngest 2 sisters, on the left, are not much older than my own mother.)
It was BINGO night at the farm...and we played til everyone won!

Friday-July 2
A FULL DAY
The schedule was full for the weekend,
but we snuck off for lunch in Nashville, TN, just an hour south of where we were.
The kids had never been to a Hard Rock Cafe before and this one is a GREAT one (for our musical tastes!)
Later, back at the farm....
some scootered....
some swam...
some fished....
**Trey landed his biggest catfish of the weekend. 30 inches and 10 lbs.
**Matt caught a whopper, too. 28 inches and 7 lbs.
some played cornhole....
some played pool....
some played Family Feud...(my BIL, nephew, daughter, Sis, and SIL)
and more family arrived.
There was tons of good food, a rousing game of A Minute to Win It.
and a hayride!

Saturday-July 3
BESTEST LUNCH DAY
I had lunch dishes duty and boy was I glad this was the meal assigned to me to be there for. See...my grandmother is known for making THE best chicken salad and pimento cheese. THE best! No trip to her house is complete without some of this heaven in a bowl!
Then it was more of the same fun stuff from before. The boys talked me into taking them into town for a bit.
I showed them the mall I use to love to visit when I was little. It had this cool play area and we always HAD to go to "Turtle Town" as my sister dubbed it-because of the giant stone turtles you could climb on.
We also drove out to where MY great-grandparents use to live. It's a whole new neighborhood now....but the house is still there.
(This is my great grands decades ago, on that same porch)
Tonight's meal was my great-uncle's famous catfish fry.
There were so many cousins there that I didn't even know.
We also had an AUCTION that night. People made or brought things to auction off to help offset the cost of some food being served each day.
My mom crocheted afghans, my grandmother made some quilts. I really wanted THIS ONE
but an older cousin I don't know outbid me.
Broke my heart.
My BIL from Phoenix brought some sort of satellite thingy so the guys could all watch the pay-per-view UFC fights. (I dunno...but my boys like it.)

LAST DAY OF REUNION FOR US
some family left this day, but not all.
My kids took advantage of the hotel pool while some of the family went to church.
Then it was lunch at the barn, and again..more of the same activities.
We took family pics while most of us were still there....
Lots of card games going on today,
and a birthday party for my great-niece who turned 1!
After that, Molly and I snuck off during the afternoon and went to see the movie Eclipse, and made it back in time for a double baby shower for 2 cousins who are due in August.
Supper tonight was spaghetti and pizza, my 4 yr old niece's two favorite meals!
Things were winding down, but we did get to go on another hayride before saying all our goodbyes and going back into town to the hotel.
It was so great getting to see family I have missed for the past 5 years. I wish we could get together more often, but when we are spread out among California, Arizona, New Mexico, Indiana, Missouri, Arkansas, Texas, Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio, and Florida, it's not so easy to do that. Still...It makes me treasure the people that are in my family, no matter how often we see each other. And...there's always FACEBOOK to keep us close!

I was gonna go ahead and include this past week in this entry,(and I did add on an extra day--Sunday) but oh my goodness how many pics I already have in here. I may wait a couple days and get all caught up.
Give your eyes a rest!
After all the excitement of this featured week, I'll just say it was a relatively quiet one by comparison. (get it...."relatively quiet"...BWAHAHAHA...I made a punny and didn't realize it!!)
So....stay tuned for adventures on the road home, and the recouperation days that followed!
I am participating in the 2010 Mommytography 365 Project!
For this year long project I will be posting an image a day.
I am hoping this will...
• help me find new things around me to focus my attention on
• share my world with my friends and family more
Anyone interested in photography can join, no need to be a Mommytographer.
