July 4-9 Last week of nothingness

A week of no kids..of quiet...of me and hubby time...of no plans.
the last week like this for the summer
Monday, July 4
ENJOYING THE QUIET
no fireworks for us...just laying in my pool, and then eating leftover grilled food from the weekend.

oh..and my knee is getting better!

Tuesday, July 5
SAY GOODBYE TO THE BED
the hospital bed that is! They came and got it today, so after a month, Greg is now back in the bed with me.
The dogs had to be put outside while the guy was here disassembling the bed. They were not happy.
(please ignore all their pawprints and slobber marks on the glass!)

After that, it was a "ME" day...went to see Larry Crowne,

bought some grilling groceries, and drove home in a horrific storm.
Picked up Amigo Juan's for supper, since it had stormed and we were both exhausted.
Wednesday, July 6
THE CALM AFTER THE STORM
Woke up to find that the previous night's storm had left us with some damage.
Two trees in our front yard were struck by lightning,
(where it hit both trees and left streaks)

(and where it came out the bottom)

and it also hit our air conditioner, and my monitor. I had to go buy a new one.

Then I came home and curled up with my pups

before grilling those wonderful veggies I bought yesterday.

FAMILY REUNION DAY....sorta
My sister and her hubby, who live in Phoenix, made a fast trip to Arkansas to pick up his daughter and her two little girls to take back to AZ with them.
They were able to stop in at my mom's for lunch and a short visit. I was so excited...haven't seen them since our reunion in KY last summer.
(me, her (she's 4 yrs younger) and and my brother who's inbetween us (both logistically in this pic, and chronologically!)

Friday, July 8
THE NAME HAS BEEN CHANGED TO PROTECT THE INNOCENT
(well..not really. Just to make things legal.)
I went back to "the city" to the Social Security Office to have my name changed on my SS card.
Then it was a trip to Walmart for more groceries to grill, and back to a quiet night at home.
Been trying to decide what to call my class this year. We've been "Superstars" for years now, but I found these cute little critters and decided to change themes.

I got the monster stuff first, then found the furry friends. I dunno if I'm gonna like mixing and matching...but I may try. (I think they are both cute), but I don't know what to call us. I can't use "Little Monsters" b/c some parent will take offense. I don't want to use "Little Critters" b/c I do a character study on Mercer Mayer's Little Critter books each year and he is a woodland animal. "Little Boogers" was another one I liked..but again, wouldn't that be offensive? So..I'm still trying to decide.

KITTIES!!
Alex brought the kittens out for us to see. They are 2 weeks old now and opening their eyes.

Maggie didn't know what to think about them.
"Hey...what's in that basket?"

"You're kinda cute!" (she loved to lick the tops of their heads!)

Tate, on the other hand, after a run-in with the mama cat last weekend, stayed away from all things feline!

Now it is Sunday again, and we've just been summoned by the MIL to come to dinner at her house (she calls when it's ready)...so off we go.
I wish you all a wonderful week...it will be busy for me. But I like busy!

Peace & Love,

And how did you like Larry Crowne? Thumbs up or down?
As for a sweater in July apparently our weather doesn't know it's summer yet.
It rained today too. Ridiculous!
